Vice President of Development and Asset Management
Deborah M. Castles joined McGrath Properties as General Counsel in 2003 and is now Vice President of Development and Asset Management. Deborah's responsibilities include implementation and oversight of McGrath Properties entitlement projects including the MacArthur Transit Village and American Canyon Town Center. Ms. Castles is also actively engaged in the marketing and leasing of McGrath Properties development projects in San Leandro, Oakland, and Emeryville.
During her twenty-five year career of land use and transactional real estate experience , Ms. Castles has entitled commercial projects in excess of ten million square feet and over one thousand units of multi-family housing. Ms. Castles has successfully negotiated Development Agreements, Public-Private Partnerships, Joint Venture Agreements, and Tax Credit Financing, and has appeared before all major state and Bay Are local agencies to secure permits for development of major projects.
Deborah began practice at Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison in 1980 and became General Counsel of the Callahan Property Company in 1986. She was a partner of Landels Ripley and Diamond from 1998-2000, serving as Chair of the Business and Real Estate Group from 1999-2000.
Deborah received her AB from Colgate University and her JD from the University of San Francisco.
