Our Community

The McGrath Properties’ team has been directly involved in the local communities we work and live in for the last decade. McGrath Properties’ philanthropic support of local non-profits and other community organizations has been augmented by our “hands on” approach. Our reach often extends out of the East Bay, where, we are now significantly represented in the North Bay community of American Canyon.

McClymonds High School

The college scholarship program created by McGrath Properties for McClymonds High School is our proudest achievement. Our program annually selects several graduating seniors from McClymonds High School in need of guidance and financial support. Our scholarship recipient works under our Community Outreach Representative, Melissa Buss, who coordinates their college prep services and works with each student individually, in what we call “extreme mentoring”, straight through graduation. The college scholarship guidelines are demanding but the success has been immeasurable. Currently, we have nine young adults in our scholarship program attending various four year colleges throughout the United States.

McGrath Properties has also supported the football programs at McClymonds and Skyline High School. In 2005, “when Oakland community and business leaders learned that the McClymonds High School football team, ranked number one in the East Bay at the time, had to share helmets, [McGrath Properties] responded with an impromptu fundraising effort.”

Oakland Indie Awards

In May of 2007, McGrath Properties, Inc. won the “Youth Empowerment Award” from the Oakland Indie Awards for annually providing 3 large scholarships to West Oakland students. Community Outreach Rep. for McGrath Properties, Melissa Buss leads intensive after-school programs to help students to develop academically, improve their literacy, and become student advocates.
